Best Hot Drinks for Cold Days in Pike Place Market

On our typical gray winter Seattle days, I find myself seeking out comforting hot beverages in addition to my cozy rainy day attire (rain jacket, but no umbrella!). There’s no denying the amazing diversity of foods that you’ll find in Pike Place Market and fortunately, this applies to drink selection as well! Here is a guide to several of our favorite hot drinks you can find in Pike Place Market during our colder seasons.

Mocha @ Joe Chocolates Co

Joe Chocolates takes away the conundrum of choosing between two favorite things: chocolate and coffee. Known for their rustic chocolate bark with coffee bean chunks, their cafe in Pike Place market boasts an open window for their chocolate production so guests can see their chocolate makers hard at work. Their signature Joe Mocha is my favorite morning drink when I need a boost.

Hot Apple Cider @ Tiny’s Organic

As you walk along the bricks of Pike Place, keep on the lookout for Tiny’s Organic booth. Their stand features organic produce in addition to their signature apple cider made from Washington State apples. Favorite ciders include apple peach, cherry apple, and of course their classic apple cider. With no corners cut, guests are blown away by the quality of their goods and friendly staff. Keep in mind that during the summer you can get the same cider - chilled!

Chai Latte @ Barque Brontes

Tucked away on Western Avenue, Barque Brontes is a hidden gem of the Market. Many regulars in Pike Place Market seek out Barque Brontes for its peaceful ambiance in addition to its fantastic pastries and drinks. Their Chai Latte is the perfect addition to a chilly day; in addition to regular milk, they have a selection of dairy alternatives for folks who don’t get along with lactose! Also macrons are being made right on site in their open kitchen so as you enjoy a drink and watch the amazing pastries and cakes while they are constructed.

MarketSpice Tea @ MarketSpice

Just past the famous Pike Place Fish guys, you’ll find the oldest retail business in Pike Place Market: MarketSpice! A favorite spot for local chefs seeking out quality fresh spices, MarketSpice also boasts a plethora of local teas including their namesake black cinnamon spice tea. It’s the perfect addition to any day, but especially pairs well with our cooler months here in Seattle. You can purchase tea to make at home or try one of their free samples they brew every day in-house.

Other favs in the area:

Cedar & Spokes- Pourover is recommended. They roast their own beans in Redmond.

Storyville-Sink into their leather couches or sit at the reclaimed wood tables and enjoy being perched above the hustle and bustle of Pike Place. The time varies, but they are reputable for bringing out a chocolate cake in the afternoon and walking around to offer guests a slice.
